Meatless Monday - Importance of Water

Monday, June 3, 2013

Start your day off with a glass of water. I'm talking about room temperature water with perhaps a little lemon if you'd like. It will get your digestive system moving if you do this before consuming anything else. If you're irregular when it comes to going to the bathroom, then you might particularly find this helpful. Warmer water aids digestion, whereas cold water slows it down. Skip the ice cold drinks when eating meals and snacks to ease digestion. Otherwise you're just making a sludge in your stomach. Try it for a week or two and let me know what you think.

Water: 128 oz
Exercise:40 minute walk (same as 50 min walk but faster), 30 day ab challenge day 1, and 10 of these bad boys.

Sleep: 7 hours or so. Not too bad. Then I napped for two hours this afternoon. Whoa. Body needed it!

I want to continue talking about something kind of gross. It's something we all do but no one wants to talk about it. I'm talking about poop. Seriously, hear me out. Are we even aware of what's normal when it comes to excrement? We do it every day (or we should, anyway) but what is normal? I've found that, on this diet, many changes occur, and this one most definitely one of them. By 5:30 this morning, I'd already gone three times. THREE! And not small bowel movements. Heck no. It's all the fiber I eat. When I wasn't eating as many bananas, I noticed that it wasn't so much. It's back now though! Anyone else experience something like this? I'm not afraid to go anywhere or talk about anything when it comes to this lifestyle. You might have someone else's question! So just ask. :o)

Brown rice pasta note: I've recommended this brown rice pasta for people who love spaghetti. We should not be eating wheat in any form, so switching to pasta made from brown rice flour is a great choice. I've been eating it for four months on occasion when we make spaghetti, so I know that the pasta isn't the problem. This Ragu is killing it. Maybe my stomach is just bigger and needs more too. But the Ragu HAS to go. I need some of my husband's pasta sauce because this stuff is making me feel weird. I'm not feeling full. I could keep eating and eating. Normally that's okay. But I don't like this feeling. It's like I just ate a lot of air. I don't feel upbeat from nutrients because I just ate none. Yuck. I don't feel satisfied from this meal. DONE.

See? This is how change happens though. You'll notice things like this if pay close attention to your body and its responses to certain things. Just like when I was eating my salad tonight and found that something tasted funny. I figured out it was my cucumber, and my body told me not to eat it. Whether or not it was bad or would have made me sick, my body said NO. And I listened.

Lastly, did you participate in Meatless Monday? If you're new to being a vegetarian or vegan, use Mondays as a goal to be completely meatless. In the future I'll post more meatless recipes on Mondays. Feel free to submit your favorites so I can share them! Hope you had a great day!

Eat your fruits and veggies, kids.

OMG! The way you said what the subject was...well, it was hilarious!!! I know people that don't go for days..yikes!
I am taking all that you say and thinking about it a lot...I haven't made a move to change anything. I get super overwhelmed with what I should be eating and then end up giving up and I don't want to do that again.
Where do you get the brown rice pasta and maybe Josh can share his sauce recipe???:)

Hahaha thanks. It's gross, but we all do it! So we should talk about it! And my mom was one of those people who would go days without going. Now she's regular!

Don't get overwhelmed, girl. You shouldn't stress about this. Just start incorporating more fruits and veggies into your diet and then gradually eliminate the processed, fast, and junky foods. It's pretty simple if you do it in stages with goals or something. No stress either! No one is perfect, so don't expect yourself to be. :o)

I get the brown rice spaghetti at Sprouts. And I'll have Josh write up the recipe and let you know soon!! :o)
